Early Preview of Project Management Software – ZilicusPM 6.1, The Latest Release

Zilicus, cloud based solution provider of award winning project management software  – ZilicusPM, will be releasing next minor version – ZilicusPM 6.1.

I am really excited to share early preview of ZilicusPM 6.1. This is a version is expected to address our existing customers’ specific features requirement as well as reporting requirements. So keeping up the trend that we have been releasing ZilicusPM 6.0 after listening to our customers’ voice; I am sure this release also has many enhancements that you will find really useful in managing projects

Import Project from existing project (project template)

You can reuse existing project schedule while creating new project. ZilicusPM lets you replicate existing project’s timeline set the schedule relative to new project’s start date.  While importing existing project, you will have three options as you can see in the image below. You can simply import schedule, or import schedule along with project team resources and retain their assignments or include above two and import project resource groups also.

To use third option effectively, you need to have project resource groups in place, in an existing project. So you have lot better mechanism to create and manage project template.

You will also notice that ‘Budget and Billing’ related information is available in a separate tab, within same window.

Organization Holidays

Administrator can include organization-wide holidays in Admin Tab > Organization Settings > Configurations > Calendar Settings.

Admin can include holidays in various months and for multiple years. All these holidays can be viewed in adjacent calendar as well.  As you create project schedule – schedule dates will take into account these holidays.

Email Notification: Task assignment email to calendar

When this email preference is set, your team can receive calendar events for each task assignment. Your team members will be able to view task assigned to them in their respective calendar – be it Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, Lotus Note Calendar,  Yahoo Calendar, GoDaddy Calendar and many other calendar clients. So team members can remain better informed of the task assigned to them through their project calendar.

Some users would like to get informed whenever a document is added to project. If you set this preference, your project team members will receive email notification whenever a document is uploaded to a project.

Link Issues/ Risks to Tasks

You can link existing project issues and project risks to task. The latest version allows you to link multiple issues and risks to tasks in the same project. Now you can ensure traceability among issues, risks and tasks. Once you add issue/ risk to task, you can navigate to details of respective issue/risk. So you can have better project traceability.

Link Documents to Project Task

Project manager and team members can upload and link documents to project tasks. You can not only upload your local files, but also link Google Documents to tasks.

Link Google Doc to Issue and Risk

Similar to tasks, you can link Google documents to issues and risks. Earlier users were able to upload only local files to their data store in ZilicusPM.

Summary Task progress indicator (in Gantt chart)

The Gantt chart has become more colorful in this version. You will notice, summary tasks will show progress made so far. This progress indicator will show percentage completion of tasks based on weighted average of its subtasks.
